To help you plan a short break or longer holiday walking from one camping barn to another, we’ve just published the first of a new range of specially designed barn to barn walking maps that show you some great walking routes between selected barns. Like in the alps with their bunk barns this leaves you free not to carry a tent meaning you can walk further with less weight on your back but as with staying on Lake District campsites gives you the flexibility of 1 or 2 night stays giving you a chance to see a huge amount of the Lake District in one holiday.
The maps are based on Ordnance Survey data and have a description of the route on the back with other helpful information, and are available for free download below.
These first maps give you the walking breaks shown below to choose from and you can always opt to stay an extra night at any one of the barns, to do some more local walking or other activity to extend your visit, before walking on to the next barn.
Use the The Barns section of this website to check for availability at the barns in the break you're interested in or call our booking office on 01946 758 198 to confirm availability and make a booking.
If you’re arriving by car, and wish to leave a car please ask the barn owners permission. Timetable information for all bus, rail and boat services to and within Cumbria can be seen at www.traveline.org.uk or call 0870 608 2 608.
