Description of Barn
In the picturesque Loweswater valley, this barn is part of a traditional set of farm buildings dating back to 1670. There are four separate sleeping areas - 3x3 and 1x9, plus cooking and eating area. (This is 3 Bed Room 3) Permits for fishing and boat hire are obtained from the farm - or explore the quiet Western fells via high or low level walks to nearby Crummock Water and Buttermere. The barn is close enough as a base to scale scarfell and other central peaks, as well as taking a drive to the Solway coast. The Local Pub is just over a mile away, were home brewed beer and excellent food can be obtained. Loweswater and the close surroundings was the stunning setting for several scenes of the recent blockbuster Beatrix Potter film featuring Renee Zellweger. |
Facilities
All areas of the barn have electric lighting. Each sleeping are has mattresses (18 in total). There are 2 flush toilets, 2 coin operated showers (50p pieces), 2 sinks and a water heater. There is also the use of a calor gas heater (extra charge) - common area only. Parking is to the rear of the barn with ample spaces. Directions
From M6 jct 40 follow the A66 to the Egremont junction at Cockermouth. Take the Egremont road for approximately six miles to Mockerkin. Turn left to Mockerkin, travel up through the village and up over the hill towards Loweswater. Turn down hill into Loweswater. We are on the roadside 50 yards past the Grange Hotel on the left. |
